FAQ: BOLT STOPS

"Not all Bolt Stops are the same!"

Hi Dennis. Just cleaned the gun again (10/22 LR) and your soft #2 BOLT STOP is still as good as new. About 2000 rounds  . . .  just like new. I'm impressed. I thought it might be pulled from the holes and smashed to bits.

(A later follow-up)

Your soft #2 BOLT STOP is still doing well, however it is starting swell. It is not breaking or
cracking . .  I have taken it out when I clean. I have used Gun Scrubber and I believe that it would
"eat" your soft #2 BOLT STOP if it were not removed. It has nicely handled about 6 bricks.

(The 3000 rounds might be more than some people would fire in their lifetime.)

Some of those rounds were fired using a Gat Trigger which fires very fast. Your BOLT STOP took a
lick'n, but kept on tick'n. It has been used in conjunction with a suppressor and you don't even hear
the gun cycle. . . Thanx again . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .They work great. Sub S.

(Webmaster's note: Sub S has shot over 7,500 rounds with that same RUBBER Bolt Stop in his 10/22!!)

Q: Is the harder version a later improvement on the rubber ones or the other way around.

A: Neither. They were developed at the same time.

Q: Are these the same as the Buffer T . . .  ones or are they made from a different type of rubber? Thanks, Kelly

A: Mine are softer, they do not cause your gun to malfunction, & you can get the bolt out without removing the BOLT STOP.

"I must admit first I was skeptical about  . .  bolt buffers. . .  I now feel that this is something that every gun manufacturer should install in semi autos from the factory. In short, IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE, GET ONE. ....Just to it." H.

"The recoil from the bolt impacting the SYNTHETIC BOLT STOP should be reduced greatly giving you a more consistent group with your first round. BUT BEWARE...these are (soft) rubber bushings like any other, they (could) break down after time. Replace as necessary. Thank you . . ." L.

(NOTE: The rubber BOLT STOP should last the average .22 LR shooter for a life time. The harder synthetic BOLT STOP will last the full-auto type shooting with the fast trigger gizmos a life time too.  Application of my replacement Bolt Stop is for .22 L.R. only. Use in .22 MAGNUM at your own risk.)
